Last updated: September 2026. Helping Hands Coalition (“HHC”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Siuslaw and NW Lane County, Oregon. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we never do.
What we collect
- Eligibility details: full name, phone number, email address and ZIP code, so we can confirm you are in our service area and send pickup confirmation.
- Household details at checkout: year of birth, gender, number of dependents, race, ethnicity, veteran status, time in Lane County and marital status. These are required for grant reporting and never affect what you receive.
- Request details: the items or services you asked for and your chosen pickup time.
- Site analytics: anonymous page-level usage so we can keep the site fast on older phones.
What we never do
- We never sell your information.
- We never share it for marketing.
- We never require proof of income, ID, or immigration status to give you help.
- We never ask for a credit card, bank details or payment of any kind.
Your choices
You may ask us to show you, correct, or delete the record we hold for your household at any time. Call 541-997-5057 or use our contact form. Grant-reporting figures are held in aggregate and cannot identify you.
Retention
Household records are retained for as long as required by our funders’ reporting rules, then securely destroyed.

IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter
Helping Hands Coalition is recognised by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt charitable organisation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Conflict of Interest Policy
Every board member, officer, employee and volunteer with decision-making authority is required to disclose any financial, family or business interest that could conflict with the interests of Helping Hands Coalition.
- Annual written disclosure by all board members and key staff.
- Any interested person must declare a conflict before discussion of the matter.
- The interested person leaves the room for the vote, and the abstention is minuted.
- No individual may benefit personally from HHC funds, goods or donated supply.

Accessibility Statement
People reach this site on older phones, on limited mobile data, and sometimes in poor light or outdoors. We build for that.
What we have done
- Body text never renders below 16px, with 1.5 line height for comfortable reading.
- Text and background colours are checked to meet or exceed a 4.5:1 contrast ratio.
- Every form field has a visible, permanent label — not just placeholder text.
- Interactive elements show a clear keyboard focus outline.
- Icons are decorative and hidden from screen readers; meaning is always carried by text.
- Layouts reflow to a single column on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
- We use lightweight vector icons instead of heavy photography to respect limited data plans.
Target standard
We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Accessibility is treated as ongoing work, not a one-off audit.
